Reilly are absolutely perfect as STAN & OLLIE. One staged routine in a train depot is particularly hilarious. The movie re-creates some of Laurel and Hardy’s most famous routines, both on and off the stage. Along the way, there are many funny and hilarious bits. Some real jeopardy leads to an emotional, uplifting payoff. STAN & OLLIE is delightful, funny entertainment. The publicity stunts and a very public argument with Stan exacerbate Ollie’s health issues. When they agree to do some free publicity, the tour achieves more success. The boys are upset about the small venues their tour manager has booked. Stan Laurel is writing a new movie for the team, with hopes of getting it financed by a London producer.
It focuses on their last comedy tour in England, when Oliver Hardy was having serious health problems, which causes friction between the two longtime friends. STAN & OLLIE is a touching tribute to the famous comedy team Laurel & Hardy.
